Old Walls of Jijeon Village in Muju is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
The Old Walls of Jijeon Village in Muju are a designated cultural heritage of stone-and-earth garden walls running through a small mountain village in Muju, Jeollabuk-do — recognized for the way the village has preserved its 19th-century rural fabric almost intact. The walls follow the contours of the steep slope, separating courtyards and persimmon orchards in a way that makes the whole village feel like a single layered terrace. The site is registered specifically for the walls (not the houses), but the houses behind them are equally evocative. A walking loop covers the village in about thirty minutes. Best in autumn when persimmons hang above the stone walls. Pair with Muju Gucheongdong area.
