Why go

Sangumburi is one of Jeju's three crater types — a flat-bottomed maar volcano in the central east of the island, with no peak to climb at all. Instead, a short boardwalk leads to a viewing platform on the rim where the entire 600-meter-wide crater suddenly drops away below. Inside the crater, an enclosed microclimate hosts hundreds of plant species in vegetation belts that change with elevation. Outside the rim, broad pampas grass fields turn silver-pink in autumn and have become one of Jeju's most photographed seasonal spots. About forty-five minutes for the visit. Pair with the Saryeoni Forest Path or Bijarim Forest for a central Jeju nature day.
