Seoraksan National Park Visitor Center

Seoraksan National Park Visitor Center is the main public information and orientation facility for Seoraksan National Park, one of Korea's most spectacular and visited mountain parks (designated Korea's third national park in 1970, and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1982). The center combines bilingual park-information services, a small interpretive museum on Seoraksan's geology (granite and gneiss batholith formations), ecology (rare mountain species including the endangered Amur goral), and cultural history (Silla-era temples and pre-modern trail networks), and substantial topographic models showing the park's main trail networks. The visitor center is the standard first stop for travelers planning to hike Seoraksan, with park rangers available for trail-condition consultation in season — particularly important for the harder Ulsanbawi and Dinosaur Ridge trails that require permits and weather-window confirmation. Free entry. Open year-round. About 60 minutes for a focused visit. Pair with the Seoraksan trail network — Sinheung-sa Temple (the working monastery at the trailhead), the Seoraksan Cable Car to Gwongeumseong Fortress (a 5-minute ride to the mid-ridge viewpoint, ticketed separately), and the Ulsanbawi cliff trail (about 4 hours round-trip with the famous 808-step final climb).
