Why go

The Site of Dongnaeeupseong is the partly preserved walled town of pre-modern Dongnae, the historic administrative center of what is now Busan. The wall — restored in sections — held a key role during the 1592 Imjin War as the first major resistance against Japanese invasion at the Battle of Dongnae, where the magistrate Song Sang-hyeon refused to surrender. The site today combines wall remnants on the hill, a reconstructed defense gate, an archaeological exhibition center, and a panoramic city view from the upper rampart. About ninety minutes including the museum. Free entry. Pair with Dongnae Hot Springs and the Bokcheon Museum nearby for a full Dongnae historic day.
