Why go

Songjeong Beach is the eastern neighbor of Haeundae in Busan, separated by a single tunnel and yet a totally different vibe — much shorter, framed at both ends by rocky promontories, and known as Korea's most accessible mainland surf beach. Surf rental and lesson shops line the back of the sand, and the gentle break runs all year (with wetsuits in winter). A small temple, Haedong Yonggungsa, sits on cliffs ten minutes north and pairs naturally with a beach morning. The vibe is younger and more laid-back than Haeundae proper, with a strip of dakgalbi and pizza joints behind the surfboard rental shops. Best for surf in March-May and September-November.
