Why go

Gangcheonsa Temple in Sunchang sits inside Gangcheonsan County Park, on a stream-side bluff at the foot of the granite spires that give the park its dramatic skyline. The temple is small — a main hall, a stone three-story pagoda, and a few smaller halls — but its setting in the granite ravine, framed by pine and maple, is the main attraction. Most visitors combine the temple with the park's Cloud Bridge suspension crossing and the perimeter trail. The temple grounds are particularly photogenic during the late-October maple peak when the surrounding canyon turns scarlet and gold. About forty-five minutes for the temple alone. Pair with the Cloud Bridge.
