Why go

Wido Beach lies on the eastern coast of Wido Island, off Buan in Jeollabuk-do — reached by a 50-minute ferry from Gyeokpo Port. The beach itself is a long crescent of fine white sand backed by pine windbreak, considered one of the best swimming beaches in the West Sea region thanks to clean water and gradual depth. Around the beach, the small island maintains a distinctly slower pace than the mainland — fishing villages, a single perimeter road, simple seafood houses, and a clutch of family-run pension stays. Most travelers stay one night to fully experience the island rhythm. Best in mid-July through August for swimming. Ferry timing is weather-dependent — check the day before departure.
