Wido Beach

Wido Beach is a compact West Sea beach on Wido Island in Buan, Jeollabuk-do, one of the smaller inhabited offshore islands in the Byeonsan-bando National Park coastal cluster. The beach itself is short (about 500 meters of shoreline) with fine white sand and shallow gentle water suitable for family beach visits, and the surrounding island (about 14 sq km) hosts a small fishing community, several small offshore rock formations, coastal walking paths, and family-run minbak guesthouses. Wido's specific character comes from its offshore-island position within the Byeonsan-bando National Park cluster — the island retains the working-coastal-community feel of a Korean small-island destination while sitting within a substantial protected national-park landscape. Ferry access is from Gyeokpo Port on the mainland (about 60 minutes crossing, 2-3 ferries per day depending on season and sea conditions). Free beach access. Best for an overnight rather than a day trip given ferry cadence. Access: Gyeokpo Ferry Terminal from central Buan by local bus, then ferry to Wido. Pair with the broader Byeonsan-bando National Park mainland including Chaeseokgang cliff formations, Naebyeonsan Mountain (batch 8 verified), and Naeso-sa Temple for a full Byeonsan National Park cultural-and-coastal day.
