Yi Sunsin Square (이순신광장)
Yi Sunsin Square is a curated attraction in Korea — full details, hours, and access info on the official Korea Tourism page.
Why go
Yi Sunsin Square sits in central Yeosu, the southern coast city most closely associated with Korea's most revered admiral. A large statue of Admiral Yi facing the harbor anchors the plaza, with replica turtle ships moored nearby and historical panels — many bilingual — explaining the 16th-century Imjin War campaigns that he led from this very coast. At night the square is lit and a popular gathering point. It serves as the natural starting point for Yeosu's harbor walk, which leads to the cable car terminal and the night-illuminated Dolsan Bridge. The Jinnamgwan Hall, Korea's largest single-story wooden building and Yi's command headquarters, is a five-minute walk inland.
