Gwangju Fourth Reservoir is a constructed reservoir in northeastern Gwangju, built in the late 1960s as a municipal water source and now doubling as a quiet recreation site. The reservoir is surrounded by a 4-kilometer perimeter walking trail through pine and oak forest, with several lakeside pavilions and a small fishing pier used by local anglers. The setting is genuinely calm — the reservoir functions as a designated water-source protection zone, which limits commercial development around the shore. The trail rarely sees tourists, making it a useful slow-paced detour from central Gwangju. Best in autumn for foliage. Free entry. About 90 minutes for the perimeter loop. Pair with Mudeungsan National Park.
