Why go

Insa-dong is central Seoul's traditional culture and craft district, a low-rise pedestrian street running south from Anguk Station to Jongno, lined with antique shops, traditional tea houses, paper-and-brush craft stores, hanok-restored galleries, and the spiral Ssamzigil cultural mall. The street is one of the few central Seoul areas where chain coffee shops are legally restricted from displaying English-only signage — every Starbucks here writes its name in hangul. The result is a dense, walkable lane that still reads as Korean rather than global. By day it's craft-and-tea-driven; by evening, restaurants and sool houses take over. Pair with Bukchon Hanok Village and Jogyesa Temple, both within a short walk.
