Why go

Manjanggul Lava Tube on Jeju is one of the longest known lava tubes in the world at 7.4 kilometers, formed roughly 200,000 years ago by a single basaltic eruption that left a network of tubes still preserved beneath Jeju's east coast. As part of the "Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes" UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, Manjanggul is the only section open to the public, with about 1 kilometer of the cave accessible on a paved walkway. The featured "Stone Turtle" formation and the world's largest lava column (7.6 meters tall) anchor the visit. The cave maintains a constant cool temperature year-round. Allow about 90 minutes including the drive in. Pair with Bijarim Forest or Seongsan Ilchulbong sunrise.
