Jongmyo Daeje is the grand royal ancestral rite held at Jongmyo Shrine in central Seoul, honoring the kings and queens of the Joseon dynasty. Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, the ceremony features elaborate Confucian rituals, ceremonial court music known as Jongmyo Jeryeak, and traditional dance performed by hundreds of participants in full period costume. The procession and rites offer visitors a rare, living window into Joseon royal protocol. The event takes place at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed shrine in Jongno-gu, making it one of Seoul's most historically significant cultural occasions.
