Why go

Wibongpokpo Falls drops 60 meters in two stages off a vertical granite cliff in the Jongnamsan valley below Wibongsa Temple, in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do. It's one of the largest waterfalls in the Honam region and especially photogenic during the rainy summer season when the volume peaks. A short paved boardwalk and viewing deck reach the lower pool from the parking area in about ten minutes, making this an unusually accessible tall waterfall. The deck angle catches both the upper drop and the moss-covered cliff below in one shot. Allow forty-five minutes including the temple-and-falls combination. Quietest on weekday mornings. Pair with Wibongsa Temple at the trailhead.
