Daegu Kolon Open Air Music Hall

Daegu Kolon Open-Air Music Hall in Daegu's Suseong-gu is a large public outdoor amphitheater on the shore of Suseong Lake, one of the more architecturally distinctive outdoor performance venues in southeastern Korea. The venue was donated to Daegu city by the Kolon Group in the mid-2000s as part of the corporate-philanthropy cultural investment that shaped much of Daegu's early-2000s cultural infrastructure, and it functions as the primary summer-season outdoor programming venue for the Daegu city cultural calendar. The amphitheater seats about 5,000 in a terraced-lawn configuration overlooking a permanent covered stage on the water. Programming combines summer pop-orchestra concerts, outdoor cinema screenings, K-pop and mainstream popular-music festivals, and community-arts events. The lake setting provides a distinctive visual backdrop and cooling effect for summer evening programming. Most programs free or low-cost (KRW 10,000-40,000 for major shows). Best in June through September for active programming; the venue closes for the November-March cold-weather months. Access: 10-minute walk from Suseongmot Station (Line 3, Exit 3).
