Why go

House of Missionary Switzer is a brick missionary residence in Daegu's Cheongna Hill area, built in 1910 by American missionary Martha Switzer who served Daegu for over forty years. The building is a rare surviving example of early-20th-century missionary architecture in the city, designed in a hybrid Western-Korean style with a steep tiled roof and Western brick walls. Inside, period rooms have been preserved and a small museum traces the missionary community's role in introducing Western medicine and education to Daegu. The Cheongna Hill missionary district as a whole — three preserved houses and the Daegu Jeil Church — makes for a focused historic walk. About ninety minutes for the cluster.
