Cheongpyeong Recreational Forest is a designated public-recreational forest in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do, set up under Korea's Sanrim-yok (forest-bathing) program as a public forest-stay-and-trail facility. The complex includes forest cabins, group lodging halls, marked walking trails through dense pine and broadleaf cover, a stream-side picnic zone, and a forest-school education building. Reservations for cabin nights are made through Korea's national recreational-forest reservation portal (foresttrip.go.kr) and open on a rolling schedule — typically 3 months in advance, and the summer weekend cabins book out within minutes of opening. Rates run noticeably below private-lodge prices, and each cabin sleeps 4-6 with basic kitchen and bath. The Gapyeong location combines the forest-recreation experience with broader Gapyeong-area natural-and-cultural attractions including Garden of Morning Calm, Nami Island, and Petite France. Best as an overnight base for a longer Gapyeong-area itinerary — day-trip access is possible but the site rewards a stay long enough to walk the trails morning and evening. Summer weekdays are the quietest window with cabins still available; peak autumn foliage weekends are effectively unbookable without a lucky refund catch.
