Gwanggyo Freiburg Observatory

Gwanggyo Freiburg Observatory is a public observation tower in the Gwanggyo Lake Park area of Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, named after Suwon's German sister-city of Freiburg as part of the city's broader sister-city cultural-exchange context. The observatory is a tall structure with an upper observation deck reached by elevator, with the deck giving 360-degree views back across Gwanggyo Lake, the surrounding Gwanggyo new-city district, the Gwanggyo Lake Park landscape, and on clear days the broader Suwon-area landscape including UNESCO Hwaseong Fortress in the distance. The view is strongest at sunset and during clear-weather windows. Best paired with the broader Gwanggyo Lake Park area and Suwon Hwaseong-area itineraries.
