Seonyudo Park

Seonyudo Park is a public island park on the Han River in Seoul, set on Seonyudo — a small river island that was previously a water-treatment plant and has been preserved with the plant's original concrete-and-industrial structures intact, then converted into a landscaped park with the industrial bones still visible. The result is one of Seoul's most distinctive parks: walking paths thread between preserved water-treatment basins now planted with reeds, ponds, and wildflowers, with industrial concrete walls and pipes left as integral landscape features rather than removed. Visitors reach the island by pedestrian bridge from the Seonyudo Bridge area. The combination of preserved industrial heritage and contemporary landscape design has made Seonyudo Park a cited reference in Korean adaptive-reuse landscape architecture. Pairs naturally with Yangwhajin Foreign Cemetery, the Han River cycle path, and broader western-Seoul Hangang park itineraries.
