Seoullo 7017

Seoullo 7017 is the elevated pedestrian park in central Seoul, built on a refit former 1970s vehicle overpass that ran through Seoul Station's central area — the structure's name combines "Seoul" with "7017," referring to the overpass's 1970 construction and its 2017 conversion to public-park use. The park stretches about 1 km of elevated walkway above Seoul Station-area traffic, planted with hundreds of tree, shrub, and ground-cover species in raised concrete planters, with rest areas, viewing spots back across central Seoul, and connections to surrounding neighborhoods (Hoehyeon, Malli-dong, Cheongpa-dong). The design — by Dutch architectural firm MVRDV — fits Seoul into the broader global pattern of refit-elevated-walkway parks (alongside New York's High Line). Best at sunset for the central-Seoul cityscape views, paired with central-Seoul historic walking circuits.
