Why go
Siheung Gaetgol Eco Park is a public coastal-wetland-and-ecology park in Siheung, Gyeonggi-do, set on a preserved tidal-flat-and-salt-marsh landscape that is one of the metropolitan area's last remaining natural West Sea coastal wetlands. The park combines extensive boardwalk infrastructure threading through the tidal-flat landscape, viewing decks at scenic points, an interpretive ecology center on the wetland's natural-history characteristics (crab, mudskipper, and migratory-bird populations), walking-and-cycling paths, and seasonal flower-and-landscape displays. The park is widely cited for its preserved natural wetland landscape within easy reach of Seoul, providing an unusually accessible coastal-wetland-walking experience — most Seoul-area visitors reach it by car in about an hour, or by Line 4 (Suin-Bundang Line) to Oido Station plus a local bus. Autumn draws the largest visitor numbers for the reed-bed color (usually October to mid-November), and late summer brings the pink muhly-grass field in an adjacent lot that has become a popular photo destination in its own right. Best in autumn for the reed-bed color and cooler walking temperatures, paired with broader western-Seoul coastal itineraries including Oido Island and the nearby Sorae Wetland Ecology Park for a full West Sea coastal-wetland day.
