Gwangan Bridge: Plan an Evening at Gwangalli

Choose a Gwangalli viewpoint, check the operator’s lighting schedule and plan dinner and the return journey without a fixed photo-time promise.

For an ordinary visit, plan to view Gwangan Bridge from Gwangalli rather than walk onto the motorway. Organized pedestrian events are separate exceptions with their own dates and entry arrangements. A past walking-event listing is not permission for general access.

Choose an open part of the shoreline where you can stop without obstructing people. Compare the view before settling in; there is no single compulsory photo position. Do not stop a vehicle on the bridge to take photographs.

Lighting and photography are separate decisions

Checked 22 October 2026: the bridge operator lists basic lighting from 30 minutes before sunset until midnight Sunday–Thursday, and until 02:00 the next day Friday–Saturday. The operator says the schedule can change. Basic illumination and programmed shows are different; consult the operator’s current schedule if a show is your main purpose.

Arriving while there is still daylight gives you time to choose a viewpoint. Treat twilight as an option, not a guaranteed 20-to-50-minute window. Cloud, light and the composition you prefer matter; a darker-sky photograph can also be a deliberate choice. Keep the return journey more important than waiting for a particular image.

Choose dinner nearby or a separate Haeundae stop

For a simple evening, keep dinner near the part of Gwangalli you choose. Check menus, prices, minimum orders and closing times before committing. A sea-facing restaurant does not automatically guarantee the seat or bridge view you want.

The Bay101 is a different stop near Dongbaekseom in Haeundae, associated with Marine City views. Do not treat it as a guaranteed elevated view of Gwangalli or a fixed 25-minute walk away. If you want both areas, check an actual transit route and allow for the extra journey; otherwise choose one.

Events need a separate plan

Fireworks and drone events have their own announcements, cancellations and crowd arrangements. Check the organizer’s current date and access information before booking around an event. This guide does not certify a particular festival date or promise that arriving at a fixed hour secures a viewing place.

Choose an exit route and meeting point before a busy evening. If an event is cancelled or access is restricted, keep a shore walk and meal as the fallback only where local conditions permit.

Getting back

Map the route from your accommodation to your chosen part of Gwangalli, including the walk from the station or bus stop. Check the return service and leave time for crowds. Beach access, transport, a restaurant booking and an event ticket are separate decisions with separate costs.
