Geumneung Beach: Plan a West Jeju Beach Stop

Plan a Geumneung beach visit with separate checks for swimming, shore access, parking and the journey back.

Choose a beach stop, not a parking promise

Geumneung is a west-Jeju beach option near Hyeopjae. Decide whether you want a shore walk, photographs or an in-season swim before arranging the rest of your day. Do not rely on one beach having spaces after the other fills; check legal parking on arrival and keep a fallback stop.

Swimming and sightseeing are different plans

Visit Jeju lists the 2026 swimming season as 24 June–6 September, 10:00–19:00, without night opening. Those dates have already passed at this review on 22 October 2026. They are not permission to swim today or a schedule for next year. Check current local opening notices and restrictions before entering the water.

A shallow-looking beach is not a safety guarantee. Do not use an advertised distance from shore to judge depth. Follow the marked area and local instructions; children need close supervision. If swimming is unavailable or conditions are unsuitable, make it a shore visit instead.

Photographs without a fixed tide window

Sea colour and the view change with light and conditions. This guide does not promise turquoise water within a particular 90-minute window or at a fixed afternoon hour. Plan enough flexibility to enjoy the coastline even when it looks different from promotional photographs.

Use an open shore path or permitted beach area for photographs. Do not walk onto offshore rocks or a reef to recreate a composition. Check the local sunset for your date and arrange your return transport before staying late; the sun’s position relative to Biyangdo is not fixed throughout the year.

Keep the day geographically simple

Choose one main activity and leave the other stops optional. If considering Hallim Park, check its own admission, opening and route before combining it with the beach. A park visit has separate costs and access conditions. Avoid adding a distant south-coast destination merely because it appears nearby on an island map.

For a bus visit, check the current route, stop and last suitable return service from your actual starting point. For a car visit, check the parking signs and fees. Do not treat a coastal roadside as permitted overflow parking.

What to prepare

Bring what you need for a shore visit even if swimming is cancelled. Check whether toilets, showers or changing facilities are operating before relying on them; seasonal services may differ. Choose a meal or rest stop that is actually open and allow time to return without rushing.
