Maengmundong Forest Trail is a public walking trail in Gwangju set in a managed forest area featuring maengmundong (Liriope) ground cover that turns purple during late-summer-to-autumn bloom season. The trail combines walking paths through the maengmundong-and-pine forest zone with viewing decks at scenic points and supporting visitor infrastructure. The combination of maengmundong purple bloom under pine canopy creates one of Korea's photogenic late-summer landscape compositions, similar to the famous Sangju Maengmundong Pine Forest. Best timed precisely to the late-August through early-September maengmundong bloom peak.
