칠천량해전공원

Chilcheollyang Naval Battle Memorial Park is a public memorial park on Chilcheollyang Strait in Geoje Island, dedicated to the 1597 Battle of Chilcheollyang — Joseon's most catastrophic naval defeat of the Imjin War, in which most of the Joseon navy was destroyed by a Japanese surprise attack. The defeat occurred during the brief period when Admiral Yi Sun-sin had been removed from command (replaced by Won Gyun, who led the disastrous engagement). The memorial walks visitors through the strategic context of the battle, the battle itself, the aftermath that led to Yi Sun-sin's reinstatement and the subsequent Battle of Myeongnyang victory, and the broader Imjin War naval campaign. Period documents, archival displays, and interpretive panels anchor the memorial. Best paired with the Battle of Myeongnyang Memorial for the full Imjin War naval narrative.
