Gayasan Sori-gil

Gayasan Sori-gil (Sound Path) is a themed forest-walking path on the slopes of Gayasan National Park in Hapcheon and Seongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongsangnam-do border. The path is a 6-km circuit designed as a themed forest-bathing route with focus on the auditory forest experience — the specific acoustic environment of the surrounding mixed pine-and-broadleaf forest, birdsong, water sounds, and wind-through-canopy that the path's design deliberately highlights. Gayasan itself is one of Korea's more historically significant mountains — the mountain hosts Haeinsa Temple, the working monastery that houses the Tripitaka Koreana (UNESCO Memory of the World 2007 — the complete Buddhist canon carved onto 81,000+ wooden woodblocks in the 13th century, one of the world's most substantial pre-modern printed collections). The Sori-gil path connects to the broader Gayasan hiking network, so visitors can combine the auditory-themed forest walk with a Haeinsa Temple visit for a coherent day. Free access. Allow about 3 hours for the full 6-km circuit at a reflective pace. Best in summer for full canopy acoustics and cooling effect, or spring/autumn for pleasant walking temperatures.
