Why go

Hobaksogyegok is a granite gorge on the southern slope of Jaeyaksan Mountain in Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, named for the round "pumpkin" pothole the stream has carved into the bedrock over millennia. The deep blue-green pool sits at the bottom of a short scramble down through pines, and on summer days locals come to soak feet in the cold water and picnic on the smooth granite slabs. The trail that leads here continues up Jaeyaksan, so hikers often pair the gorge stop with a longer summit climb. Quietest on weekday mornings. The road in is narrow — early arrival or weekday timing helps. Combine with Eoreumgol Ice Valley nearby.
