Why go

Hanbyeokdang Pavilion is a Joseon-era pavilion on the cliffs above the Jeonjucheon Stream in central Jeonju, originally built in 1404 as a small literary-and-contemplation pavilion for Joseon-era scholars. The pavilion sits on a rocky outcrop above the stream, with the surrounding green cliff face — known as Hanbyeokdang Cliff — providing the visual backdrop. The combination of the small wooden pavilion, the rocky cliff face, and the stream below has made the site one of Jeonju's most-cited classic landscape compositions, and the surrounding Hanbyeok Tunnel and stream-side walking paths give the area a coherent walking experience. The pavilion is part of the broader Jeonju Hanok Village walking circuit, with the cliff-and-stream landscape providing a natural extension from the hanok-village core.
