Wansan Park

Wansan Park is a public hilltop park in Jeonju, set on Wansan — the small hill that gives the surrounding Wansan-gu (Jeonju's central district) its name. The park combines hilltop walking trails, viewing decks back across central Jeonju and the Hanok Village area, picnic-and-rest areas, and the historically significant Wansan Cheilbong (Wansan First Peak) — a viewpoint that has long been associated with Jeonju's traditional cultural identity, and the site of an 1894 Donghak Peasant Revolution battle that marked a turning point in the revolution's early phase. The park sits within easy walking distance of the Jeonju Hanok Village walking circuit, and the elevated viewpoints give visitors a clean overhead view of the hanok-village landscape from above — one of the few free public elevated views of the hanok grid in Jeonju. Best paired with the Jeonju Hanok Village circuit, ideally at sunset for the strongest cityscape views. Spring cherry blossoms along the park's hillside paths peak in early April, and the park draws substantial local visitor numbers during the two-week blossom window. Access: about 15-minute walk from the Jeonju Hanok Village main square, or 5 minutes by taxi. Pair with the broader Jeonju cultural walking circuit including Jeondong Cathedral and Pungnammun Gate.
