Why go

Sangju Eunmoraebichi is a quiet south-coast beach in Namhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, named for its fine "silver-sand" (eun-morae) which gives the beach its distinctive bright tone in midday sun. The 1.5-kilometer crescent is backed by a designated 360-year-old artificial pine windbreak forest — itself a natural monument — which provides shade through summer and a wind buffer year-round. The water is shallow and gradually deepening, suiting families and beginning swimmers. Behind the beach, a small fishing village maintains a few seafood restaurants and family-run pension stays. Best in mid-summer for swimming. Quietest on weekday mornings. Pair with the nearby Gacheon Daraengyi terraced rice paddies or German Village.
